and RGJ Article 2/1/08
Ken Mayer and Russ Mason:
Question to both of you!
Do both of you support your NDOW subalterns' opinions and statements in this
recent article or not? I personally spent 25 minutes in your office
on Feb 9th 2007, 10am explaining to you Ken Mayer that I personally would not
let you get away with this style of propaganda in the NV news media.
Second question: Who runs NDOW, you or Mike Cox? I specifically
told you that I would consider anything that was printed in the news by any of
your employees as though it had your approval and SIGNATURE on it. Did I
not say this to your face across your desk, Ken?
As for you Russ Mason, I sent you an email informing you
that I remained quiet at the Nov 2nd and 3rd 2007 commission meeting out of
courtesy to you and the Department but would not necessarily be silent in the
future.
Did I not tell you this Russ? This is the very thing
you both know full well I was talking about, yet you both continue on without any
respect to me or my concerns for the future of the NV hunter sportsmen and the
atrocious mule deer situation that now exists in NV because of NDOW denial of
predators over the past 40 years and not habitat. Why predators and not
habitat? Cox says that since 1999, 6.65 million acres of prime mule
deer habitat have burned causing the loss of 60% of our mule deer herd, with
most of it being area 6. There are 70,400,000 acres or 110,561
square mi of land in the state of NV of which 6.65 million acres comprises only
4,256 sq mi, which in turn makes up only .09% of the entire state of Nevada. Please
explain to me and to the entire state of NV how it's possible for 60% of
Nevada's deer were lost in 8 years when only .09% of NV was affected and
105,744 sq mi remain untouched by fire and on top of all that the fires were
everywhere throughout the entire state during this period of time.
Predators cover 110,561 sq mi of NV, 24/7 and fires constitute only 4,256 sq mi
for only a short period of time each year, accumulating over an 8 year
period to the picayune amount of .09% of this total amount of NV land
surface. Do you really expect me or the NV hunter sporting class to
swallow NDOWs divisive psychological propaganda? Not if I have anything to
say about it! Let's hear your reply?
