They have stooped to a new low by aligning themselves with a well-known antihunting organization. Defenders of Wildlife was formed to protect predators. By protecting predators, there is no need for hunting or hunters. Here are some of the Defenders of Wildlife's comments. Read More >> |

Editorial
Just six years ago, HUNTER'S ALERT was formed by a very small group of people who enjoyed hunting and fishing in our state. We could see our favorite pastime was going downhill. We also realized that the people responsible for this decline did not have the knowledge or perhaps lacked the intestinal fortitude to correct the problem. Read More >> |

WANT HUNTING SUCCESS? GO ELSEWHERE!
In September of this year I made a hunting trip to South Africa. Upon my return home, I recounted to my friends and family the enjoyment, excitement, and great hunting experience I had. After they left, I was relaxing and reminiscing about the hunt when a thought crossed my mind. "Why did I have to travel to Africa to hunt?" It wasn't the exotic animals, the excitement of travel, or hopes for adventure. It was the hunt itself. The love of hunting and being able to hunt hired me to a country ... Read More >> |

PROTECT PREDATORS --NEVADA STYLE
Mahlon Brown is chairman of Nevada's Board of Wildlife Commissioners. He was appointed by Governor Miller and is supposed to represent the sportsmen of Nevada, He is an attorney who has hunted very little. If he were out in the field he would know how the mountain lion has decimated our once famous Nevada deer herds. He would also know that in the last fifteen years the mountain lion has increased in numbers from 600 to over 1600. He should also know that there were only 204 mountain lion ki... Read More >> |

DUCK POPULATION ON THE DECLINE

LACK OF DEER IMPACTS BUSINESSES
If you were one of the 16221 people who drew a deer tag this year you had reason to celebrate. Just five yean ago there were 57,134 deer tags available to the hunters in our state. To put it another way, we have lost 72% of our available deer tags in just five yean. In addition, the money generated from those tags is also lost. This not only hurts game programs but private business as well. HUNTER'S ALERT checked with some of the Southern Nevada taxidermists and meat processing plants. Here ... Read More >> |

WHY?
...Isn't the director of NDOW doing something about the serious predator problem in our state? ..Are ducks still on the decline? Steel shot which hunters have been using for years, was supposed to be the cure for the dwindling duck population? ...Did Nevada Bighorns Unlimited offer a $2000 reward for those responsible for the illegal killing of one elk, but donated nothing as a reward in the massacre of 13 bighorn sheep? CONSTANT COMMENTS
We are continuing to receive comments from disgruntled sportsmen throughout our state. You are reinforcing our belief that we have serious problems within Nevada Department of Wildlife. It is just too bad that Governor Miller, NDOW director Will Molini, and the Board of Wildlife Commissioners refuse to address this pitiful situation. But remember, next year we can change that by removing Governor Miller from office. Read More >> |
