I want to commend the Nevada State Rifle and Pistol Association, and Hunter's Alert in their efforts to change the makeup of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

There has been no agency, state or federal, that has caused more problems for rural communities across Nevada in the last 15 years than has the Nevada Department of Wildlife. In fact, they could easily be called The Nevada State Environmental Activist Agency." Both behind the scenes and in public they have at every opportunity propagandized against the livestock industry and mining, and for many years ware extremely successful in creating great controversies between those industries and our state's outdoor recreationist.

Fortunately however the Nevada Department of Wildlife is now becoming recognized for what they are; simply an agency that will do whatever they see as necessary to gain more and more power and control over lands and resources; while showing little interest in producing quality outdoor recreational opportunity.

Scientific data and historical information show that it has been their policy, via reductions in predator control, increased wilderness designation and poor habitat management that has decimated our state's sage grouse, chukar and once famous deer herds.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is out of control, they answer to no one and until Nevada citizens rise up and take back the management of our state wildlife at the county level things can only get worse.
