Anyone who has attended Board of Wildlife Commission meetings has seen Tom Atkinson, Chief Game Warden for Division of Wildlife, put license revocations on almost every agenda. Indeed, game violators should be brought to justice but a standard set of rules must be applied to all.

Recently, Tom Atkinson has been trying to revocate the hunting privileges of a sportsman who, in one case, followed the law. This is in direct contrast with another case.

Several years ago, Tom Atkinson's wife, Tommie Kay Atkinson, was cited for shooting an illegal doe antelope while Tom, the Chief Game Warden, was hunting with her.

Tommie was not cited under the usual "Violation Classification and Coding" handbook all game wardens use, but a little known regulation NRS 501.181 which is a general catch all regulation, not specific to any game violation, and calk for only a $50.00 bail Other sportsmen with the same circumstances would normally be cited under NRS 501385 "Prohibited Age/Physical Characteristics" with a

$200.00 to $500.00 bail or NRS 503.110 "Unlawful Possession Prohibited Species", with a $100.00 to $500.00 bail Both of these carry much higher bail amounts than the one used. Why weren't these used universally? Double standard?

Was she let off easy because her husband was Chief of the Game Wardens? What kind of investigation was done? Instead of paying her fine, she went to Court and got the citation dismissed by the Judge. Double Standard?

No license revocation was recommended in this case as it was classified as an accident and dismissed. Would this had been dismissed if she had been cited under the standard violation codes? Double Standard?

What is the official written policy for license revocation? There doesn't seem to be a policy except law enforcement arbitrarily decides who to bring up for revocation of hunting and fishing rights.

There cannot be equal justice if the law enforcement branch is solely allowed to determine who they will or will not recommend for license revocations without written policies.

People who violate our fish and game laws should be punished but everyone should be treated equal, without a double set of standards.
