Just six years ago, HUNTER'S ALERT was formed by a very small group of people who enjoyed hunting and fishing in our state. We could see our favorite pastime was going downhill. We also realized that the people responsible for this decline did not have the knowledge or perhaps lacked the intestinal fortitude to correct the problem.
Today, HUNTER'S ALERT membership approaches 1000, we have become incorporated, and have a full time lobbyist on staff. We have fundraisers set for Las Vegas and Elko this year. Sportsmen now realize what we have been saying for years. There are serious problems with NDOW and the Wildlife Commission. We don't claim to have all the answers but we do know the people in charge of NDOW and the Wildlife Commission have proven they cannot do a good job of managing our game. We would like to emphasize that unlike some of the major outdoor organizations, no one in HUNTER'S ALERT gets paid. Our pay will come in the form of overdue changes in NDOW and the Wildlife Commission. This will result in more game for all hunters in our state. We are grateful for the overwhelming support we have received in the past. But... we have yet begun to fight We need your help. We urge you to do your part. Attend one of our banquets or donate something for one of the banquets. If you are interested in organizing a banquet for your area, let us know. Call John Connot at 877-4217 and he will fill you in on the details. As the cliche goes, "We've come a long way, baby!"
