For years HUNTER'S ALERT and other knowledgeable outdoor groups have been telling people about Will Moloni’s inability to properly manage NDOW. For years, it has fallen on deaf ears and now the sportsmen in our state are going to suffer because of it. The many failed audits years ago proved Willie Molini was not doing a good job. Chairman Mahlon Brown said those audits don't mean anything! Who is responsible for this catastrophe? 1. The administrator himself. He cannot increase game numbers. His only increase comes in the form of the highest hunting and fishing licenses in the West 2. The Wildlife Commission: They are the ones who chose to put administrator Moloni in an ivory tower rather than check to see what kind of job he was really doing. Did any of them check to see where the money was spent? Or how much was spent on nonrevenue producing programs? Apparently not or NDOW would not be in this financial mess. 3. Outdoor organizations who continued to support the incompetent administrator
as long as they got what they wanted from him. If they were truly concerned about sheep they would have put pressure on their favorite administrator to do some predator control. We continue to hear about the decimation of our sheep by the mountain Sons. Members of HUNTER'S ALERT told NDOW about predator problems years ago but they refused to acknowledge that we have a predator problem. At the January Wildlife Commission meeting, Willie Molini stated we have over 2000 mountain lion in our state. But we do not have a predator problem. If you multiply one deer a week (which a lion consumes) times 52 weeks in a year, the total is over 100,000. But we don't have a predator problem? How about all those coyotes? But we don't have a predator problem? Other states admit they have a predator problem. But we don't? I guess Nevada predators are strictly vegetarian. The reason NDOW doesn't acknowledge that we have a predator problem is so NDOW doesn't have to pack any heat from the antis. According to NDOW, fast season was one of the worst in 20 years for hunter success. The number of tags allotted was the lowest in fifty years! When hunters harvest 6,700 deer and predators kill over 100,000, something is wrong. HUNTER'S ALERT win keep telling everyone of the problems until they are cured. But with all problems, there are solutions and we will repeat them again. #1. Replace the current administrator. #2. But some knowledgeable, experienced people on the Wildlife Commission. #3. Return to a Department of Fish and Game. HUNTER'S ALERT will continue to fight to make these necessary changes. But meanwhile, we told you so!
