We apologize for not getting our newsletter out sooner. Since January, we have concentrated our efforts on the legislative session. The reason HUNTER'S ALERT was formed was to help improve hunting in our state. We realized that to do this, we would have to become politically active and seek changes at the legislature. The Nevada Division of Wildlife and the Wildlife Commission should be responsible for doing this but unfortunately they haven't taken that responsibility.

The legislative process is lengthy and expensive. We as individuals just cannot afford the time and cost involved to be available in Carson City at all times to fight for our cause. A full time experienced lobbyist was required to help move our bill through the various committees. The help we received from sportsmen's groups and individuals throughout the state was very gratifying. We thank all of you who testified, wrote letters, and made phone calls. This was a grassroots effort against big brother government and with the help of the good elements within the government the good guys won. That doesn't happen very often so once again, thanks for all your help. In 1997 we will be there stronger than ever and we will need your help again!
