HUNTER'S ALERT doesn't always get our newsletter out on time. There is a good reason for this. First, there are no paid employees in our organization with the exception of our lobbyist. We find ourselves pulled in several different directions at one time trying to determine which issues to address next.

Shortly after our last newsletter, NDOW overspent $190,000 on their budget, a clear violation of NRS5353.260, "Spending in excess of amount appropriated". In October, HUNTER'S ALERT went to Carson City to address this overspending. What programs were cut to make up for this loss? We believe the sportsmen have a right to know since they pay for it. We were there again in December, but still got no answer.

Then NDOW decided to create the furor over the mountain lion. This has been a continual battle since last November with our Wildlife Commission continuing to sell out the sportsmen. Fighting to help our hunting seems to take precedence over the newsletter. Rest assured there is not a single day that goes by without HUNTER'S ALERT fighting for all hunters in our state. It is for this reason we do not get our newsletter out in a timely manner. Please bear with us on the time frame.
