In our last newsletter, HUNTER'S ALERT and Nevada Hunters Association requested new administrator Terry Crawforth to answer a few questions and respond to them in writing. Terry Crawforth failed to respond to any and all of the questions. One of the questions asked by Nevada Hunters Association was: The former director was criticized for his extensive travel. Do you plan to run the agency or run all over the country? The new administrator has had the job for a year. Here are a few memos from him.
January 22, 1999: "The administrator got a little behind on some projects such as this report. The combination of these two months reports is a one time happening. We will continue this report and hope to mention upcoming events as well as previous happenings. Thanks for your patience when I hung out the "Gone Hunting" sign or got involved in other priorities." His July 7, 1999 memo states "1 also participated in the Western Wildlife Law Enforcement Technical Committee meeting, Western Sharp-tailed and Sage Grouse Technical Committee meeting, three field tours, two retirement parties, numerous interagency meetings, two Environmental Commission hearings, two Supreme Court settlement conferences and negotiations on water issues in Lahontan Valley, purchase of the 3-C Ranch, and several internal program and operational meetings. " In addition, he attended the WAFWA meeting in Durango, Colorado in July. We are sure that some of this was probably beneficial. However, it certainly appears that the Nevada Hunters Association was right on with their question. The scary part of all this is that acting deputy administrator Dave Rice is managing the office while Terry Crawforth is touring the country. You remember Dave, he is the fellow who called trophy hunters "rednecked animal killers who hunt for ego gratification." Scary, isn't it??
