Surveys are compiled for many reasons and much can be learned from them. NDOW did a survey in 1994. The results of this survey were compiled by NDOW. Of course, the results of this survey were never made public. One can only assume that there were more negative comments than positive about NDOW so the results were never released.

This new survey appears, on the surface, to be somewhat more legitimate. The company doing the survey is Profile Center in Provo, Utah. HUNTER S ALERT attempted to call this company but there was no listing under that name. That does make one a little suspicious.

Most questions on the survey were on a 1 to 6 rating system. There were two written questions to be filled in. Following are the questions and HUNTER S ALERT replies.

A. What do you consider to be the Nevada Division of Wildlife s greatest strengths?

1. The two newly appointed Wildlife commissioners, Tommy Ford and John Moran who will help straighten out an out of control state agency.

2. The fact that they do not participate in the big game tag draw anymore.

B. What do you consider the two most significant things the Nevada Division of Wildlife should change or improve that will make it more effective?

1. NDOW is in desperate need of a new administrator with some new ideas and some different personnel.

2. They should change the policy of no predator control. We have lost deer, sheep, antelope and sage hen because they refuse to implement any predator control.

HUNTER S ALERT is hoping this survey is aboveboard and the negative comments don t get put in the trash can like the NDOW survey. In addition, let s hope that our Wildlife commissioners will take some action on the results of the survey. If this were to happen, some long overdue changes could be in the future.
