Moccasin Road, Turn North at the Decatur Exit of North Beltway The 2880 acre parcel of land for this proposed World Class Shooting Facility will soon be passed to Clark County ownership. Jim Gibbons, John Ensign and Harry Reid are the sponsors of the legislation that makes this possible. Congress has already passed the Gibbons Bill and the Senate will soon follow with a vote on the sure to pass Ensign-Reid Bill. The interest level of our Clark County Commissioners is low.
Here are a few positive reasons for implementing this facility. SAFETY! This easily accessible location should remove 85% of the dangerous, indiscriminate shooting that now exists around the fringes of our valley because shooters have never had a safe, supervised and inexpensive place to shoot. THE LAND COST IS FREE! Thanks to our friends in Washington DC: Gibbons, Ensign and Reid LAW ENFORCEMENT NEEDS! Our three cities need a new state of the art facility that will never be impacted by growth as their current firing ranges have been. This parcel of land provides this opportunity. Law Enforcement ranges can be built on this property with complete privacy from the public by the sheer size of the property. ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP! This site is already a Shooting Range as the 3 mile length of the land parcel is already badly littered by garbage, old tires, broken bottles and old targets from years of use as a dumpsite and plinking spot. THE TOURISM CONTRIBUTION! The annual contribution to tourism is Fifty Million dollars made by traveling Competitive Shooters who want to come here anyway. There has never been a Clark County project that has zero land cost, the annual operational costs are repaid and the construction costs are repaid totally in 10 years. This unique opportunity COSTS CLARK COUNTY NOTHING. More committees, wasting time and not funding the major portion of this project by a 10 years GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND OF TEN MILLION DOLLARS can ruin the project. The conservative supporting economics for Bond repayment are there. County Manager Thorn Reilly is not in favor of this project any time soon. His time line appears to be 10 to 15 years. Manager Reilly stated to me that he had at least 20 projects with HIGHER PRIORITY than this facility. The Manager also stated our County Commissioners would never bond for this project nor will they discuss bonding. They will not see me! His idea of sources for funding this 15 million dollar project are from donations and large grants but he cannot identify the grants or donors. The Commissioners NEED A WAKEUP CALL! PLEASE CALL THE GENERAL CLARK COUNTY COMMISSIONER NUMBER AT 455-3500 AND STATE THAT YOU SUPPORT THIS PROJECT & THE BONDING TO GET IT DONE QUICKLY. That is all that you need to say. If you don't know your Commissioner just tell the receptionist your address and she will connect you with who she believes is your Commissioner's assistant. Thank you, Norm Lindley 435-2860
