During the last legislative session, Assemblyman Jerry Claborn asked the NDOW Director, Terry Crawforth if now that NDOW just received $7 million because of increases in fees, wasn’t there enough money to hire another biologist. Terry Crawforth emphatically stated no.

During the third week of April, a sportsman went to NDOW headquarters in Reno and he observed Mike Cox, Big Game Staff Biologist, pulling weeds in front of NDOW’s headquarters. Other NDOW employees pulling weeds were Paul Dankowski, Game Warden, Kelly Clark, Chief of Conservation Education, Craig Mortimore, Game Bureau and other NDOW personnel.

NDOW is managed under the direction of Terry Crawforth, the same person that Wildlife Commissioners Ford, Moran, MacKenzie and Bradley were praising so highly at the August 2003 Commission meeting. This is the kind of management the Wildlife commissioners approve. It’s too bad the Wildlife Commissioners don’t have a clue as to what is really going on in NDOW. They have chosen to endorse Terry Crawforth’s management style and they continue to listen to him. They should be listening to the hard-working NDOW employees who would like to do what is right in their job duties. HUNTER’S ALERT has never had a problem with the biologists. It isn’t their fault they were told to pull weeds.

Recently HUNTER’S ALERT has had some comments that we only state problems with no solutions. Here is a solution. Replace Terry Crawforth and have Wildlife Commissioners appointed who will stand up to NDOW and not rubberstamp everything that NDOW wants. We need sportsmen to become sportsmen’s representatives and commissioners appointed based on their wildlife knowledge, not on how many political dollars they have donated to the governor.

REMEMBER

…Jim Jones, the fanatic who had his people drink Kool-Aid resulting in the murders of 900 followers? If Terry Crawforth asked this Wildlife Commission to drink Kool-Aid, rest assured they would start drinking.
