“Gotta have more money, gotta have more money!” This is NDOW director Terry Crawforth’s cry to the Wildlife commissioners. Of course, the commissioners buy into it without any questions. What Terry Crawforth really meant was, “Gotta have more money because of my mismanagement.”
When you spend almost as much money on law enforcement as you do on the Game Division, something is wrong with your style of management. Of course, the blind Wildlife commissioners don’t see it that way. When Terry wants something, they act like puppets. In our Fall, 2004 newsletter, we compared Terry Crawforth to Jim Jones, the fanatic who had people drink Kool-Aid, killing 900 of his followers. If Terry asked the Commission to start drinking Kool-Aid, they indeed would so nothing has changed with this Wildlife Commission. None of the Wildlife commissioners in the last legislative session supported a bill to audit NDOW. It is quite apparent that the commissioners don’t care how or where NDOW’s $21 million plus budget is being spent by Terry Crawforth. The Wildlife commissioners who have the title of sportsman should hang their heads in shame. They have sold out sportsmen because of Terry Crawforth’s mismanagement and their ignorance. Three of these Wildlife commissioners are on NDOW’s legislative committee. They are (falsely) classified as sportsmen’s representatives. Sportsmen need to know they are being sold out by Clint Bentley, Tommy Ford and Chris Mackenzie. In addition, they appointed Bill Bradley to this committee. It was bad enough that Bradley sold out the sportsmen while he was on the Commission for ten years. Now the other commissioners want to keep him on the legislative committee. Again this doesn’t say much for the commissioners on this committee who are supposed to represent sportsmen. At the February, 2006 legislative committee meeting, this brilliant bunch along with their illustrious leader, Terry Crawforth came up with a list of potential 2007 legislative topics. Here is the summary of their hard work: 13 are for more law enforcement, 10 are for more money, 0 for more game or doing something to bring back our deer. It is quite clear that they don’t know what to do about bringing back our deer. Nothing has changed with this bunch as to how they are representing sportsmen. HUNTER’S ALERT will keep you informed about their dismal proposals concerning the upcoming legislative session.
