Many of you think you are doing your part when you help fund or work on a water project for sheep or an elk or quail relocation. This is good to enhance game numbers but it does nothing to stop the antis from their goal, to stop all hunting. Next time your organization has a meeting, ask the president, "What is our club doing to insure that we will be able to continue hunting?"
Hunters spend their time and money making it better for game, while the antis spend their time and money trying to stop hunting. Who will win? Unless all hunters unite and get involved, the antis will surely win. If hunters continue to stay the course, hunting is going to be outlawed. And believe me, this is not a scare tactic.
After years of soul searching, I finally realized why hunters have not united. First, we have egos like no other group of people. But more importantly, hunters like their sport for the peaceful-ness, serenity, and tranquility that hunting affords them. By getting involved in fighting the antis, it goes against what they really enjoy.
If you want hunting to be around for your children and grandchildren, you had better get involved before it is too late, if it isn't already! Now ask yourself, "What have I done lately to be sure our great hunting heritage will be here after I’m gone?"
