Right on the breeding grounds, the raccoon, fox, coyote, skunk, and hawk are the duck's worst enemies. The predators' impact is even more critical than drought. Foxes alone killed an estimated 800,000 hens on their nests last ) year. We must make the effort now to protect the ducks and ducklings "behind the farmhouse"-on the privately owned potholes.
