In September 1997, Pete Morros and Willie Molini signed a contract with Helicopter Wildlife Management. The contract was to capture big game using a hand-held net gun fired from a helicopter and deliver animals to a receiving location for relocation. Two months later, the owner of Helicopter Wildlife Management, the pilot and the netgunner were arrested for unlawful possession of a Nevada elk. Word of the illegal activities came to NDOW through information provided by a citizen in early November. NDOW warden Eric Williams stated "Without the information provided by the concerned citizen, we would not have even known about these alleged illegal activities. HUNTER'S ALERT wonders if NDOW had discovered the illegal elk on its own without the third party reporting it, would NDOW have even charged the people they contracted with? The bottom line is that NDOW hired the people involved and now they get credit for busting alleged poachers!
